Duisburg Campus
The summer school will take place at the “Gerhard Mercator Haus” of the Duisburg campus of University of Duisburg-Essen. You can find the campus map here.
Costs
Attendance at ECoL Summer School 2016 is free of charge. However, costs for travelling, accomodation, insurance and visa won’t be borne by the organiser but have to be borne by the participants themselves.
Visa
If you need an entry-visa for Germany, and if so what kind, depends on your nationality and maybe an existing Schengen-visa. Please find details on this matter on the website of the Federal Foreign Office of Germany.
Accomodation
All participants of the ECoL Summer School 2016 will be able to stay in the same hostel in Duisburg. You can find detailed information about the hostel here.
Site
The ECoL Summer School will take place at the Duisburg-Essen University’s Duisburg Campus, which is situated about 2,5km east of the city centre.
Emergency Numbers
The emergency numbers in Germany are 110 (Police) and 112 (Fire Brigade & Ambulance). You can dial free of charge from any public call box. Note that you can’t call 112 with a phone without SIM card. Through the 112 number, you can call for an ambulance (Krankenwagen). In an emergency on a major road (motorway, highway, secondary road), look at the white kilometre stones or posts by the side of the road for arrows pointing in the direction of the nearest emergency telephone.
