This year’s “German-Arab Knowledge Transfer Colloquium“ funded by the DAAD with financial means of the Department for Foreign Affairs will deal with the topic “Water.Energy.Food Nexus“, discussing state of the art research within the MENA Region and the knowledge-network of the Centre for Logistics and Traffic (ZLV) of the University of Duisburg-Essen.

The Centre for Logistics and Traffic (ZLV) is hosting for the second time the German-Arab Knowledge Transfer Colloquium, which has been established to strengthen cultural, economic and scientific ties between the MENA region and Germany, especially the University of Duisburg-Essen. The projects is funded by the DAAD with financial means of the Department for Foreign Affairs. The upcoming Colloquium sets its focus on the so-called “Water, Energy and Food Nexus” – a holistic approach to tackle future supply of basic services in a sustainable way. The nine-day event at the ZLV in Duisburg is supposed to bring together the expertise and insights of different MENA countries and Europe in order to exchainge knowledge, discuss scientific, geographical, social and political obstacles within this research field and develop further plans of scientific cooperations. In pair of two days, the topics “Water”, “Energy” and “Food/Agriculture” will be highlighted by speakers from both, the MENA region and the University of Duisburg-Essen as well as further German scientists and will each day finish with a panel discussion. In addition, didactic methods, educational games and project management in complex issues will be discussed as well as an event-closing workshop on the topic “The DWA Modular Environment Training System – Water, Waste, Energy and Agriculture“ will be offered.
